Wilfrid Stanley Richmond was born in Sussex on 10 August 1881,〔England & Wales, Free BMD Index, 1837-1915〕〔UK Civil Engineer Records, 1820-1930〕 the son of John Richmond of Harpenden, Hertfordshire.〔〔Who Was Who, Published by A & C Black〕 He was educated at Bedford Modern School and King’s College London.〔〔War Honours Won By Old Boys, Bedford Modern School. Published by H.W. Robinson, Bedford, 1931〕〔
